Dear All!
WE ARE COVID FREE WE ARE DONATING OUR HAIR TODAY!!
It's Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation Inc week 14th-22 Nov 2020. Alopecia is an auto-immune disease that results in hair loss on the scalp and elsewhere on the body. It can be a lifelong condition, and can deeply affect self-image, self-esteem, confidence and even mental health. Wigs can help children, who want hair, have the opportunity to feel good about themselves again and through the AAAF we hope to educate people that having no hair is normal too. Donating our hair to be made into a wig for someone who cannot grow hair of their own hair is a rewarding experience for us. It took us two year to grow our hair to meet the requirements needed to turn it into a wig. We made it and we are ready to donate it!
We were told that a good quality wig can cost up to $4000. All hair donated to the AAAF is sent to wig makers who specialise in making hair pieces for medical purposes. The wig makers give funds to support the Wigs For Kids program, which provides financial grants to help families with the costs of wigs. So our hair donation helps kids with Alopecia Areata twice!
I am donating all my hair, whilst my boys are donating most of their hair on 18 Nov 2020 at 7:30pm at the 52 Hair Co sustainable Hair salon. We may go live on FB at that point. Keep you posted!

(AAAF), is established to be the national Australia body supporting research to find a cure or acceptable treatment for all forms of Alopecia Areata, support those with the disease and their families, and inform the public about all forms of Alopecia Areata.
Our Service philosophy is to give each person the best chance of managing their alopecia journey positively, the whole family and each individual needs to be supported to manage their unique experience. By reducing the financial and emotional stress and enabling children, young people, adults and their support networks to develop their strengths and skills, AAAF assists the whole family to achieve that positive journey.
